Bicycle
Giveaway FOP Show
Several KARC members attended the FOP show. The bicycles, given
away this year, were provided by KARC and Rainbow Motors. Mike Smith coordinated
the effort and several members pitched in to get the bikes to their new owners.
Thanks to the members that helped out and special thanks to Randall Gibson and
Rainbow Motors for providing bikes.
We
“Hurd” Norman is thrilled
that Frank sold his 40 Ford. No more warranty work! As soon as Bill sells his
Plymouth, Norman says he will be out of the warranty business completely!
We
also “Hurd” that Bill had brought his Mercury into
Norman’s shop, recently, with a weird smell, door
popper solenoid was almost on fire! New ones are on order from Eddies Rod Shop.
Bill will try to get fixed on warranty from previous owner Tom Herron!
Speaking of Bill. Leaving the Shades
show, Saturday after the drawing, I was sitting in traffic admiring a killer
original looking ’32 Tudor highboy with wishbone and Flathead. I was telling my
wife how I’d love to find one that solid, rambling on and on about how I loved
that old car. I looked up and the driver was shaking his 40th
anniversary KARC cap at me. It was Bill Pettis.
Jerry Collins was seen admiring
the spoked rims on this year’s giveaway car. Jerry
rode down with buddy Dallas, hoping to drive home Dallas’ new roadster, but it
didn’t work out.
Between the rain and humidity,
they had to draw 4 or 5 times (I can’t count that high) to get a car winner.
Norman was leaned up under the edge of a building,
waiting to see if his number was drawn.
After telling David Baker, “Let’s
go on down to where the Top 25 and giveaway are. There’s shelter down there.”, my grandson, David, and I quickly discovered the sheds at
the Splash Country rides have mesh roofes. One of the
three of us loved getting drenched under that mesh and playing in the rain.
Cruise
to Wheels Through Time
I spoke with the folks at Wheels Through
Time Motorcycle Museum. After looking at the upcoming show schedule, I told
them the last Saturday in October would likely be the day we would like to
cruise over to Maggie Valley as a club. We get a club discount, with the entry
fee being $12. They said Dale Walksler might be there, or perhaps not. He comes and goes and no longer
schedules his time there. I was told his son Matt is there most every day and
almost always on Saturdays. We will discuss the cruise at Thursday’s meeting.
